Geocache Description:

On a cold and foggy night the last members of a pirate band stole ashore to hide their booty. The captain and one crew member rowed ashore in a small boat and made landfall at the end of a very small creek in Liverpool Harbour. They exited their boat and carried the treasure chest ashore. Once on dry land they started to look for landmarks to commit to memory so that they could return one day and reclaim the treasure. Some say that the treasure has never been reclaimed and remains there to this day, waiting for a person to find the treasure map that leads to the final horde of gold.

Legend has it that after the gold was secreted in its resting spot there was a falling out among the pirates and one was left  behind to guard the treasure for all eternity.

After much searching in old and mouldy archives and consorting with many unsavory types, I think that we have decoded the directions to the final resting place of the pirate Blackrattle. We ask you to join us in this search as there is security in numbers and we need all the help we can get to outwit the curse of the pirate gold.

The following directions are taken off of a map reputed to have been drawn by hand in Blackrattles own blood. Balckrattle the Pirate, being large of stature had a pace exactly 1 meter long. Blackrattle learned this measure in France after the Revolution and used it to confound the naval forces chasing him, who were used to reading feet and inches.

Go to the posted coordinates which are at the end of a small creek.

Look for a tree with broken limbs, this was the starting landmark according to legend.

From the tree head True North for a distance of 260 paces until you come to a place to cross the waterway.

At this point take a heading of NE or 45 degrees on the compass and measure off a distance of 500 paces until you come to the edge of the forest.

At this point there is a path present, follow this path at aheading of 280 degrees for 15 paces until you come to twin pines.

Turn to 318 degrees and pace off 22 paces at which time you will be close to the treasure.

The treasure is said to be hidden in the cleft of a large rock and is guarded by the earthly remains of the pirate Blackrattle, who lost the final battle with his crew member after writing the map.

Beware The Curse of The Pirate Bones!
