Billy Goat Gruff Traditional Cache

The Billy Goat Gruff Geocache is the second of ten caches that will be hidden in the park. The experience of finding these geocaches is not only fun for the family but educational too. You might even see that there is more to Hot Springs National Park than just Bathhouse Row.

This cache is located on top of North Mountain. You can either park on top of North Mountain at the overlook and hike down; or park at the Gulpha Gorge Campground and hike up. (The hike up is longer) North Mountain was once called Whetstone Mountain, and later Quarry Mountain, for the novaculite mining that occurred among its outcrops. Quarrying eventually ceased on North Mountain, but the pits and tailings remain; one pit is still visible along the Goat Rock Trail.
