Geocache Description:

This is a nasty cache --- only the hardy please. This will require significant effort and it is only one smiley. I have given this a 5 terrain rating, and you will see why when you start up the trail. I have also given it a 3.5 on difficulty --- it should not be that difficult but as GPS reception quality is suspect you will have to broaden your search area a bit.

I have done quite a bit of caching in my day, and I do not see myself stopping anytime soon. I would rank this as one of the more difficult.

It is a beautiful place, this Seymour Conservation Area.  After a long cycle either up the bike path, or along the Spur Trail, you will eventually find your way near the end.  The area is full of caches, though somewhat more sporadically located on the Spur Trail.  I placed 9 caches along the Spur Trail, and all were rejected as I discovered a new rule ... 500 M spacing in Metro Vancouver Regional Parks.  I cycled the trail again to collect these 9 caches, and in the process discovered this new trail.

This is a nasty trail!  It is vertical, the elevation change is significant, and previous hikers have left rope in many places to help you on either your ascent or descent.  After cycling 10-12 kms, this trail seems even more difficult.  Also keep in mind you will have to leave your bike down below - probably bringing it up the trail 4-5 meters, out of sight, would work in concealing it.

Be prepared for a rough and tiring hike up and down the hill. Please also remember you still have 10-12 kms to go to get back to your vehicle after that hike.

If you want a smiley - you have a nice big cache, 2 brown plastic containers with green tops ( as of July 2015 only 1 container ).

Suggestion - for the particularly hardy, take 1 and carry it another 500 M, where you can hide it yourself! Suggested name for this cache:

The caches contain some hard rubber animal figurines to entertain you. GPS quality is iffy with the large trees and mountains - broaden your search area a bit, the cache is close to the trail and not far from flagging tape in 2-3 directions.

4 days after being published (which is a long time around here), with stories to tell - encountered 2 bears! Well done and full honours bestowed.
