2014 brings the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. At the time it was considered to be the war to end all wars and led to such a loss of lives that villages and towns across Britain began erecting War Memorials, mostly funded by local patronage, to honour the Remembrance of those local lads and men who did not come home.
Most of these memorials also reflect the sacrifice laid down by local men in the Second World War.
This particular War Memorial refers to the two wars seperately as "The Great War" and "The World War".
Please take a few moments to reflect upon the significance of this Memorial.
