Geocache Description:

The stroll is less than 2km long on paths in the area by the old Svinesund Bridge. The wherigo is 9 steps facts and quizzes about the Norwegian history of 1814. It may easily be completed in less than an hour – if you pay attention to the text.
In the last step you'll locate the cache and get the cartridge unlock code. The cache is probably reachable from a wheelchair, but you'll have to traverse gravel roads and make a longer route compared to people on foot.

Norway in 1814

1814 was perhaps the most eventful year in Norway’s history. At the beginning of the year the country was ruled by Denmark, an absolute monarchy under King Frederik VI, and subject to a naval blockade being ceded to the king of Sweden. During 1814, Norway became an independent state, adopted the world’s most democratic constitution and elected its own king.
By the end of the year the Norwegian parliament was forced to join with Sweden in a personal union under the monarch of Sweden, but the Swedish king had to accept the Norwegian Constitution – a constitution that took precedence over the monarch.
The year contains the story of one king and two ambitious future kings in Scandinavia who may have hoped to unite Sweden, Denmark, and Norway under their throne.
The Norwegian people and their leaders were caught in the middle of this rivalry, attempting through the crisis to create a measure of self-determination.

This cache celebrates the 200th Anniversary of Norway's Constitution!
