Zasław Malicki Park Traditional Cache

Park im. Zasława Malickiego to park miejski położony w centrum osiedla Rakowiec w Warszawie. Nosi imię generalnego projektanta tego osiedla, wzniesionego w latach 1958–1974. Park ma powierzchnię 5,96 ha i został założony w 1958 roku.

W trakcie projektowania osiedla władze dzielnicy Ochota domagały się zasypania istniejącego stawu i maksymalnego zagęszczenia zabudowy osiedla. Generalny projektant osiedla, architekt Zasław Malicki, stanowczo przeciwstawił się temu zamiarowi i ocalił staw przed likwidacją. Staw został oczyszczony z szuwarów i zarośli, a brzegi umocniono kamieniami i betonem. Obecnie Staw Rakowiecki ma powierzchnię 2814 m² i stanowi centrum osiedlowego parku.

The Zasław Malicki Park is a small urban park located in the middle of the Rakowiec estate in Warsaw. It was named after the the main architect of this estate, built between 1958 and 1974. Established in 1958, the park has an area of 5,96 ha.

The Ochota authorities wanted the pond destroyed in order to maximize the density of residential buildings. Zasław Malicki, the main architect of the estate, was the only one to oppose against this idea and managed to save the pond. The pond has been cleaned, the rushes were removed and the banks were reinforced with stones and concrete. The Rakowiec Pond currently has an area of 2914m² and remains the heart of the park.
