Brooklyn Center Fire Department (BCFD) at a Glance
- Department founded in 1949
- Protects approximately 29,000 people living in an area of nine square miles
- Firefighters operate out of two stations that protect residential, commercial, and industrial areas, responds to fires, medical emergencies, and chemical spills within the city.
- Target time to arrive at an emergency scene: six minutes or less
- Staffed by one full-time fire chief and 40 volunteer firefighters
BCFD Mission
To protect the lives and property of the community from emergencies involving fire, medical, hazardous materials, and environmental causes. We accomplish our mission through education, fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency medical services, and other non-emergency activities.
