Donnington Castle

All that survives today is the twin towers of the gate house.
The original castle walls were demolished and what's left can still be seen today.
The castle was extended into a star shape for extra defence.
If you're lucky a mowed path shows you where this was.

The castle was laid siege in October 1644 and the garrison held out for 18 months.
With permission from the king, Sir John Boys surrendered the castle in April 1646 and was allowed to leave with all his men.

The cache is at the back of the structure and not in the car park.
Follow the footpath up to the castle and go through the gate at the back
following the footpath around to the cache.
