Geocache Description:

The Rippowam River is a river in Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA. It drains a watershed area of 37.5 square miles (97 km2) and flows for 17 miles (27 km) from Ridgefield to Long Island Sound, which it enters in Stamford's harbor.

Fun Facts: Did you know that Rippowam was the original name of Stamford, CT before it was renamed around 1640s into what it is today? How about that around 1800s the Rippowam River was also known as Tatomuck River?

Streamflow in the Rippowam River is controlled by several small dams. The Turn-of-River Bridge, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, crosses it. The river has been dammed to form both the North Stamford Reservoir in North Stamford, and the Laurel Reservoir on the Stamford/New Canaan border.

The lower eight miles of Rippowam River, from the North Stamford Reservoir to Stamford Harbor, are known as "Mill River".

Your mission, should you choose to accept is just to enjoy a nice stroll along the river. Sometimes it helps to pause for a moment and admire the river flow. The cache itself is a small custom container, a log and a pen inside. Sorry no space for swag. Have fun! It's not as hard as it looks!

It is important to put everythign back the way you found it. And do log all DNFs as it helps to maintain the cache. As always, should you or any of your G.C. Force be caught or killed, or turned into a manetee, the C4 Headquarters will disavow any knowledge of your actions.

Respect the signs!
