Située dans le Parc de la Bécassine, cette ancienne ferme abrite aujourd’hui un institut de l’Université de Genève, qui porte son nom en l’honneur de François-Alphonse Forel (1841-1912), le père de la limnologie (sciences des eaux douces et des écosystèmes lacustres).
L’équipe des chercheurs à Versoix est composée, entre autres, de géologues, chimistes et biologistes, et travaille principalement dans les domaines suivants : limnologie, géologie, biogéochimie, écotoxicologie, physico-chimie, écologie et biologie aquatique.
Après l’aménagement récent du parc et la renaturation de la plage, les Versoisiens aiment cet endroit calme et agréable. Ils y viennent pour faire des barbecues, pour profiter du soleil et de la possibilité de se baigner dans le lac (donc attention aux Moldus).
N.B. : Il est généralement interdit d’entrer dans le parc en voiture. L’accès pour piétons, en revanche, est garanti à toute heure par la porte de droite, même si le grand portail est fermé (très peu de lumière dans le parc la nuit). Janvier 2016: Depuis quelque temps il y a un panneau à l'entrée du parc disant que l'accès est permis pendant les mois d'été, mais généralement les promeneurs y vont toute l'année.

Situated in the “Parc de la Bécassine” (Park of the common snipe), this former farm building nowadays harbours an institute of the University of Geneva, which bears its name in honour of François-Alphonse Forel (1841-1912), father of limnology (science of freshwater ecosystems).
The team of scientists working in Versoix is composed, amongst others, of geologists, chemists and biologists, and works mainly in the fields of limnology, geology, biogeochemistry, ecotoxicology, physicochemistry, ecology and aquatic biology.
After the recent reconstruction of the park and the renaturation of the beach, the people from Versoix love this calm and pleasant place. They spend their free time here doing barbecues; enjoying the sun and going for a swim in the lake (so please beware of Muggles).
Note: It is generally forbidden to drive into the park with cars or any other motorized vehicle. For pedestrians the park is always accessible via the door at the right side, even when the front gate is closed (there is very little light in the park at night). January 2016: now there is a sign at the entrance of the park saying that it is open during summer only, which is generally ignored by the strollers.
