The Lithonia Methodist Church is one of the landmark buildings of Lithonia and was built using locally quarried granite. The church congregation was established in 1860. This church building was constructed in 1910 and designed by architect and Lithonia native John Park Almand in the Gothic Revival style. This style is reflected in the church's rough-cut granite arranged in a traditional cruciform pattern, buttressed exterior walls, pointed arch windows, and projecting front tower with crenellated roofline. The original church, a large wood-frame building with a cupola, was located approximately 200 feet behind the current building.
