This cache is located near a creek and the ruins of a historic mill. PLEASE RETURN THE CACHE TO ITS UPRIGHT POSITION. Parking is available from the Evans Mill Parking Area. It is also accessible by bicycle from the Flat Rock Spur PATH trail.

The Evans Mill Ruins are located in Panola Mountain State Park within the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area. To reach the site, start at the Evans Mill trailhead at 4028 Evans Mill Rd, Stonecrest, GA. From there, a short walk leads you to the remains of a historic gristmill.
The Evans family owned and operated the mill from the late 1800s into the early 1900s, with their house located across the road. The mill operated until the 1940s, grinding grains like wheat and corn using water power. The remains include a dam, millrace, and other features along Pole Bridge Creek. The mill took advantage of an elevation drop to direct water to a wheel, which powered the mill’s gears. After the mill was abandoned in the 1940s, water and time caused it to deteriorate into the ruins we see today.
The surrounding area is also beautiful, with trails like the Cascade Trail, which follows Pole Bridge Creek and leads to scenic cascades. For a longer hike, the Wilburn Farm Trail intersects the Cascade Trail, offering even more exploration.
