Plastic tube covered with gray duct tape hanging off of a tree; park and grab
In 1975 the State of New Hampshire opened their first turnpike liquor stores. Two stores were built at the Hooksett Toll Plaza and were accessible from both Northbound and Southbound directions. Motorists would use Lane 1 on either direction to access the special parking lots created for the stores.
This cache is placed on the back of a pine tree adjacent to the old parking lot for the Southbound store. The stores were an immediate success. Eventually traffic congestion developed due to motorists veering right to get to the parking lots.
In the early 1980's, the stores were relocated to their present location about one mile north of the Hooksett Toll Plaza.
If anyone has more information about the original stores, please post it. Thanks!
