This is another one in my series where I leave a GC nearby locations where I end up working on. I've been on this HBO show, the Leftovers which shoots primarily in Westchester and Mount Vernon. For over a year now, I have been sneaking away from set to find Geo Caches and then I decided to start hiding them. This is based on what limited time I have on set and using resources found within the film/tv production world I'm in. BTW, film shoots are great places for all kinds of materials...tape, art supplies, electrical supplies, hardware...you name it. We are basically a giant traveling sound stage.
I brought the pill container with me and found one of our sides to craft a log out of. Sides are smaller versions of the scripts printed out to give to actors, or crew memebers with the scenes we are doing for the day. Many of them get tossed aside because not all the production departments need them. So you may notice some printed words on the other side of the log. This is part of the fun for me. Trying to build a hide with materials at my disposal. The sound cart had some scotch tape in which i fastened two pages of the log together.
On the way to our location, a house off of Kenilworth Rd. I noticed an entrance into the woods just off the exit on the Hutchinson River Parkway. At lunch I went in and found this tranquil woods which runs along the Hutch and parallal to the Mamaroneck River. It looks like at one point this was an offical trail with New York like the Old Croton Aquaduct. I found several concrete markers with the initials NY written in top. It appears to be a bridal trail, probably used by West Chester County Police equestrian unit. Yes, I found lots of horse poop on the trail-watch your step. I'm not sure what the land use rights are of this forrest and couldn't find it on any map or google search. So, I'm calling this a hidden woods. Trailhead parking should be at Pleasent Ridge Road, just past the Harrison Police Department station. Coord: N040 99.684 W073.72.394 PLEASE park away from the entrances and ramps to the HUTCH. North St. is a very busy two way traffic road. Hike into the woods a little bit and follow the trail-Entrance is off of North St near the entrance to the Hutch--Again, be aware of traffic. The cache is a hidden in a tree on the river and Hutch side of the path. Use the hint. There is a dollar bill for the FTF. Best of Luck.
