Geocache Description:

Gulanguy at Xiamen, among top five tourist attractions in China

This is the place to go to (after you have seen the great wall). Xiamen is an island and a city on the chinese coast, just opposite Taiwan. It was called Amoy and has a long history. The tea that was tossed into the Boston harbour at the Boston Tea party came from Xiamen. Now it is a clean garden city, the only city in China with silent traffic, it is not allowed to horn. (Direct fligth from London, Sydney, Beijing, Singapore)

And with a five minutes ferry ride across the straight (200 meters) you come to Gulanguy, a smaller island with the old town where all the european states had their offices. There is unspoild old houses and narrow streets, mixture of east and west, with gardens, beaches, and museums of all kinds. 20000 people live in town where NO traffic is allowed, no cars, no bicycles, you just have to walk. (Just one McDonalds disturbing the image). I think it can be the only one of its kind in China, so silent, in such good condition.

To find the cache you have to climb the rock. At the waypoint you will find an old black iron canon. On the back side of the canon I placed a magnetic smiley. Then if you go closer to the main gate, up behind the temple, you see a broken inscription stone, see picture, broken grey stone with red chinese text. A plastic cache box with some key-rings inside is hidden behind it, take something, give something.

Best of luck from Gafs
