Strada Centumvirilor sau “Spinarea Cainelui”, dupa cum o cunosc batranii orasului, este un punct pitoresc din cetatea Sibiului, ce ne ofera o priveliste uluitoare deasupra acoperisurilor caselor din Orasul de Jos.
Strada are un profil convex,si se invecineaza cu arsenalul cetatii unde Konrad Haas care a fost un guard imperial de artilerie, şef al arsenalului cetăţii Sibiu între1556-1579 si care a elaborat o amplă lucrare privind rachetele cu mai multe trepte şi rachetele-bumerang, si a facut primul experiment cu rachete din lume .
Zidul are o lungime de 200 m si o inaltime de 10 m in partea mediana, unde sunt amenajate scarile Poschen ce fac legatura intre cele doua cartiere ale orasului vechi.
Strada Centumvirilor? Cine erau Centumvirii? membru al unui colegiu de judecători format dintr-o sută de magistrați care judecau afacerile civile în vechea Romă.
Majoritatea edificiilor de pe aceasta strada , aveau scopul de a deveni locul de adunare şi depozitare a mărfurilor venite din alte oraşe spre comercializare. Cele mai renumite astfel de case, denumite „curţi" au fost „Curtea Bistriţeană" şi „Curtea Sighişoreană". O notă din Cronica oraşului Sibiu, a lui Emil Sigerus, aminteşte că edificiul bistriţenilor fusese construit în 1769 pe strada Centumvirilor.
Zidul Cetatii Sibiului de pe strada Centumvirilor este unul dintre cele mai importante obiective turistice din Sibiu si imprejurimi, obiectiv pe care nu ar trebui sa-l ratati daca va aflati in apropiere.
