Ireland's 10,000th Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

sgtzara: Checked this evening - missing. The general area has become somewhat grubby, had a look nearby for possible alternative GZs with no joy and thus this one heads off to the great archive in the sky.

Geocache Description:

This cache holds the honour of being the 10,000th one published in Ireland, a mere 14 years and 13 days after Europe's First (GC43) which was placed on 03/06/2000.

It is a traditional cache located at a footbridge which went over the old Belfast & County Down Railway line, close to where the goods yard used to be located.

This location is one of the few remainders of the BCDR Comber to Donaghadee railway line in Newtownards. Here you will find a footbridge which went over the railway line which from which trains where either going to, or coming from Donaghadee.

The train station itself was located a short distance away at Victoria Avenue (now the site of the South Eastern Regional College - Newtownards).

The park land near the footbridge contained the goods loading area.

Getting to GZ:- There are several access points to this area (see waypoints added).

The cache:- You are looking for a watertight micro sized container containing a log. Please BYOP.
