Geocache Description:

The geocache is located on a path to a national partisan bunker reconstruction. Bunker is reconstructed based on stories told by partisans and photos.

The cache is not inside the bunker. The path requires no beforehand arrangements but a visit to the inside of bunker must be arranged beforehand by calling +37129350059 or by email nod.brunis@gmail.com.

Eng:

Latvian national partisans or forest brethren were small, local armed groups from 1944 till 1956 which carried out military operations against the Soviet occupation regime in Latvian territory. To avoid the attacks of Soviet rule, the local people lived in bunkers hidden in forests. This gave them the name - forest brothers.

Near Amata river and the strategically important road Riga-Veclaicene is a reconstruction of a Latvian national partisan bunker. The bunker is built on the basis of partisan stories about their life in Latvian forests, hiding and fighting for an independent Latvia. Those interested can view the layout of the bunker with a zigzag entrance, undercover security exit, air ports and the hidden chimneys, as well as get acquainted with the various guerrilla used items.

The area of Melturi was actively used during World War I and II. We have meticulously gone over the area with metal detectors, but there is still room for a small warning here. The cache is not made of metal, and does not in any way resemble a hand grenade. If you have found something resembling a hand grenade, you are quite likely to have found a hand grenade. Do not pick up metal objects.

Inside tour needs to be arranged beforehand and is by donations.
