At an average walking speed of 2.4 MPH it's about a 2 hour and 10 minute round trip. Once you get there you're gonna want to do some exploring so set aside some extra time, and absolutely bring a camera! The first mile and a quarter are all uphill with a 725 ft. elevation change (the good news is that it's downhill coming back!) on a pretty good trail. The next mile is pretty level and can be covered fairly quickly. I had ten satellites so the cache should be easy to find. Now for the best part...
The cache includes;
A (soon to be coveted) "I Found It First" Geocache T-Shirt.
A Cellular antenna booster ($24.95 as seen on TV) so you can call your friends from this location.
A handmade Dream Catcher (to hang from your mirror).
A pen and paper set (to capture your thoughts on).
A Pocket Knife (to put yourself out of your misery...ha ha)
And for any youngsters that make the trip there's...
A Hot Wheels car
A pack of Heart stickers
A Betty Boop Khrome Collector's Card
And a bunch of football cards (Raiders, 49er's & Seahawks)
I hope these are enough to entice you to make the hike. Once you get back to your car I'm SURE you'll be glad you did. The only hint I'll give you though is where to park...
N42 28.139 / W122 56.732 - (Updated 5/18/02)
The cache is in a clear Tupperware "like" container with a blue and yellow lid at an elevation of 1994 ft. Enjoy the trip and be sure to log your visit (you can cuss me out if you want) in the book and please take a picture of yourselves for our album. And, if you take the last picture on the roll, PLEASE bring the camera back down with you (cuz if you think I'm goin' up there again, you're nuts!). Email me at "ShastaBert@aol.com" and I'll pay for you to ship it to me or maybe pick it up.
Updated February 15, 2009.... After 7 years we hiked up today and replaced the cache. Everything is now in good order and the view is even more spectacular than I remember! If somebody would bring a black plastic garbage bag to wrap the whole thing in that would be cool. The one we used was clear and it's a little too visible I think. Enjoy! PS. There is no more camera
