This cache, placed on Flag Day, 2014, honors the US Flag.
She has been called "Old Glory," "the Stars and Stripes," and just "the Red, White, and Blue." Every American knows the 13 red and white stripes stand for the original 13 colonies who defeated the British in the Revolutionary War. The colors have meaning as well. White stands for purity and goodness; Red, hardiness, courage, valor; and Blue symbolizes vigilance, perseverance, and justice. These are the virtues, along with our unbounded independent spirit, which form the backbone of our nation. Every time I see the flag unfurled, I think on these meanings. My heart swells with pride for being an American. I honor all those brave, selfless men and women who have sacrificed for my freedom, many giving their lives. I renew my "Pledge of Allegiance" to honor those who have gone before by trying to be the best citizen I can be, and to do my part to make a positive contribution to my country. "God Bless the USA!"
Park in the shade at the parking coordinates. Walk down the shady lane to the cache coordinates. When you arrive, turn south and face a Chinese Elm bush. A stick in the grass nearby points to this bush. Look in the lower branches for a string knot. DO NOT UNTIE THE KNOT. Pull on the string and the cache will be revealed.
