Geocache in place through mid-November 2015: Get yourself NY/NJ Trail Conference map #102 and enjoy a beautiful walk along the Scofield Ridge on the Wilkinson Memorial Trail (yellow).
The shortest way to the cache is from the Mount Beacon parking lot on 9D. This is a rigorous hike, please bring adequate water and snacks, and wear proper footwear. Along the way, don't miss the views from the fire tower on South Beacon Mountain--south to New York City, north to the Catskills and the beautiful Hudson River Valley in between. The highest point in Putnam County is nearby on the Scofield Ridge.
