Thurnby United Reformed Church or Thurnby & District Free Church, as it was then known, was founded in 1906 as a Union Church to serve the villages of Thurnby, Bushby, Scraptoft, Keyham and Stoughton as there was no "Free Church" in any of these villages. The building on Uppingham Road was erected in 1908
