The cache is a small plastic box box. It has room for small swapables.
Cranham Woods are managed both for timber and conservation of the surrounding limestone grasslands. The grassland is grazed by a herd of hardy cattle and thanks to careful management, the environmental quality of the Common has been steadily improving year by year.
The common forms part of the Cotswold Commons and Beech Woods National Nature Reserve, an internationally important area managed by Natural England and the National Trust which includes some of Britain’s finest beechwoods and limestone grasslands.
Clay used to be dug from nearby pits to serve the once thriving Cranham potteries, one of which was in the building now used as the Village Hall.
The cache is placed with the knowledge of Cranham Common Trust, The Common Management Committee and Natural England, and with the kind permission of the woodland owners – Catriona & Richard Tyson –
