宇喜田川は宇喜田橋の西側、現在の休養公園から宇喜田川公園を経由し、棒茅場通り（ぼうしばどおり）に沿って南下した後、旧中川の河口（清砂大橋の北）に向かって流れていましたが、荒川放水路の建設により川下部分は水没しました。 昭和２２年の航空地図には中川に沿って流れたのち東曲し再度西に向かったところで中川と合流している様子がわかります。 昭和３８年の航空地図では既に埋め立てられていることがわかるとともに今は無き旧葛西橋や船堀閘門、新川水門も様子がはっきりとわかります。

Funabori locks and old Kasaibashi, defunct floodgates Shinkawa also clearly see how right now as well as it can be seen that the Ukita River has been reclaimed already in the aviation map of 1963.
