But if you were Geocaching in 2001/2002/2003 or any other early GC year, you would see the name Slytherin or kimRobin as we were known in the very early days in many, many log books. Our team, of me and Mrs. Slytherin were notable celebrities is those days!!! When we started there were NO geocaches in West Yorkshire... none, zilch, zero, nada. For our first cache find we had to drive to Lancashire (oh, the horror of that) to find a box buried in 4 feet of soft sand on Formby Beach in pounding rain. Thank you for that one jstead.
We were first in the UK to 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and maybe 700 finds, until we were finally taken over by the caching machine AKA. Seasider.
Eventually, "it's all about the numbers" took over and we took a back seat before moving to the sunnier climes of Texas.
Well, for one day only, Mr. Slytherin is coming back and holding court in his favourite Geocaching Event venue for an afternoon of fun and frolics and meeting up with old friends and new.
Join me a 4pm for a beer or five in Dewsbury. You can play jolly games such as asking star geocacher Rutson how long it took him to find GCJNW2 Austin Power #1, and find out first hand where Noel from The Biffas buys the crackers that he gets his jokes from.
Arranging this from 5000 miles awy could prove to be tricky and a venue change might be required, but put the date in your diary anyway.
Come along... you never know, you could see Russ Windswept smile. It could happen!!!!
