Gartley Falls Memorial Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

shannybanny: I would like to permanently remove this due to the location being unsafe. I hid my cache in memory of my father that died in this location. Unfortunately, I see that people are swimming despite my warning not to.

Geocache Description:

This memorial cache is near the beautiful, hidden Gartley Falls. Park along the 540 that runs along the western side of the river. Safety first...no swimming please. The water is much faster than it was years ago.

I placed this cache in memory of my father who passed away in 2000. Although he passed away in this location, it is a special place where he used to take myself and my siblings often as children and I still visit this beautiful hidden beach each summer. To get to the entrance you need to walk around the potato field and find the trail which has always been marked by a can on the end of a stick. If the can is gone, keep an eye on the rock piles. The entrance is near one of those. If you are standing at the rock pile, it should be the one where you can still view the road. If you can't see the road, you have gone too far. This geocache is a ways out, so make sure you save it in your offline list because chances are you will not have cell service in this range, and without it in your offline list you won't be able to access your compass. (For you lucky ones with GPS devices, you are all set).
