Geocache Description:

Operation Market Garden Redux

Operation Market Garden (25 September 1944) was an unsuccessful Allied military operation, fought in the Netherlands and Germany in the Second World War. It was the largest airborne operation up to that time. It required the capture of several bridges between Eindhoven and Nijmegen and at Arnhem. The failure of Market Garden ended Allied expectations of finishing the war by Christmas 1944.

You will be dropped into enemy territory at Starting Co-Ords, from there you are to make your way to the hidden checkpoints. Each checkpoint will give you directions to the next checkpoint. Once at final Co-Ords you are to take bridge. When you have established a stronghold you will need to find the Transponder hidden on far side of the bridge. You must radio HQ Command of successful mission on the Transponder (via signing of Logbook). If transponder fails to gain a signal you may need to check 'FUSE' .

GOOD LUCK. The geo community's fate is in your hands.

Terrain;

The terrain is mostly fire trail of 1.5km with the mid point being 250m of moderately steep walking track. No bush bashing is required (except a couple of metres at GZ) but remember you have to return the same route. The checkpoints and transponder are well camouflaged and of different types and sizes. It is advisable to take water. If you stay to the tracks and fire trail you should be ok but watch out for muggle mamils that frequent the fire trail.
