Geocache Description:

This is one of several caches on a route around and in the pleasant Lincolnshire village of Waddingham.

This cache is located just outside the boundary of the church of St Mary & St Peter

Origionally there were two settlements, Stainton (where the present church is) and Waddingham, which were on either side of  Waddingham Beck which runs through the village. Both settlements are mentioned in the Domesday Book, but they existed before then. Both places have Anglo Saxon names: Stainton is derived from The Old English "Stan" (stone) and the Old English "Tun" (farm), meaning stoney farm. Waddingham, however, is derived fromtwo common suffixes:"ing" (person), or "ingas" (people), and "ham" (village or settlement), meaning the village of, or belonging to, the Wada family or tribe. St Mary & St Peter (origionally St Peter) church chancel arch is 13th century, the tower being a 15th century addition. The church was largely rebuilt in 1862.

To get this cache I suggest that you park where convenient to ensure that you do not block any driveways or farm access.

You are looking for a small cliptop box hidden at the base of a large spreading tree (it is not in or close to the wall!). Please replace how found
