Geocache Description:

At a recent event agcnz showed me his map of unfound caches - everything south of Shannon and Eketahuna involved swimming, boating or too hard puzzles. This for a geocacher only a month away from achieving a year streak. Having recently completed 201 days without being forced out of the Hutt Valley I can hardly comprehend how hard it must be to travel so far each day to maintain a streak. I am putting out my first cache to give agcnz an easy day.

This cache will take you to the Maungaraki Steps which are actually in Korokoro. Korokoro is a great suburb to go walking. According to Tracks.org.nz "there is a variety of walking tracks through bush clad hills and breath-taking views from lookout points over Wellington harbour. Indeed, these bush walks may be the most under-rated in Wellington". Unfortunately they were not talking about the Maungaraki Steps. However these do perform a useful function allowing walkers to bypass the hairpin bend around the playground.

The container is a pill bottle with black tape on the top. It should be accessible with only one step off the path. Do not step off the path on the road side as there is an obvious cliff.

Please return the cache exactly as you found it because sometimes this path suffers from over enthusiastic weed clearing. Press into the leaf litter to avoid it rolling down the hill
