Santa1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Vertighost: Cache owner (CO) has not responded and, as there's been no cache to find for for an extended period of time, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. In general, caches that have been archived due to maintenance issues or lack of cache owner communication are not eligible to be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

This is on the new Boerne trail and is my first Geocach. parking is close and the walk is easy.

Tales of Trails
Boerne's trails system has expanded in the past years. In 2007 Boerne residents approved the 2007 bond package that encompassed several pedestrian mobility projects. Included were the additions of the Cibolo Creek and Currey Creek Trails, sidewalk improvements and River Road Park improvements. The combined utilization of these pedestrian networks will greatly enhance the walk-ability and enjoyment of downtown and adjoining neighborhoods.

In 2008 the search was on to find the right design team to put together our trail designs. The Terra Design group was chosen. Once the design team was chosen we went to work on choosing a steering committee, holding public meetings and obtaining easements from property owners and the list goes on.

Our efforts paid off. On April 21, 2011 the City broke ground on the trail project at what is now known as the Cibolo Trial Trailhead located just behind Main Plaza. Currey Creek work was begun around the same time. The project is now completed and being enjoyed by many residents and visitors daily.
