When the City of Asheville purchased the land now home to Azalea Park (and the John B. Lewis Soccer Park) it also bought land on the other side of the road. This property includes a log cabin that Thomas Wolfe lived in one summer. The funds to renovate the cabin are somewhere in the appropriation phase.
The walk up is a little over a quarter-mile, and not all that steep. You are looking for a medium-sized Lock&Lock container. I suggest that you park at N 35° 34.437 W 82° 29.327; the entry gate should be visble from there. The "park" is closed from 10pm to 6am.
The listed coordinates should bring you to the cabin. The actual coordinates for the container are:
N 35° 34. A 65
W082° 29. B 79
A = number of windows and doors on wall covered by front porch roof [5]
B = number of windows on the north wall [2]
CHECKSUM: A + B = 7
Enjoy!
