Cloudland Canyon State Park sits on Lookout Mountain in the NW corner of the state of Georgia. The West Rim trail is home to some of the most gorgeous views of the canyons and waterfalls in the park. It also shares some space with the Great Eastern Trail.
There is a $5 daily entrance fee, unless you are a member of the Friends of Georgia State Parks!
Park at the waypoint posted; there is a large parking area at the GET and West Rim trailheads. As you face the canyon, there is a now-closed-to-cars road to the left of the parking area. Start up that road (on foot!) and head a short distance into the woods when you see the metal Great Eastern Trail blaze on a tree. The container is a lock 'n lock, tucked in to avoid most of the rain...
Placed with permission of the park manager and park naturalist. Please take care to understand the basic rules of geocaching in order to help keep the game enjoyable for all who participate. Please do not move or vandalize the container. Replace the cache like or better than you found it (exactly where you found it).
Sign the log book and leave it in the cache. If you want to take any of other items in the cache, they are there for trade; be sure to leave something of equal or greater value, but don't leave any kind of food items, or anything that is highly aromatic, which could attract critters/creatures/rodents/bugs!
All trails close at sunset, so this is a daylight-only find.
Enjoy your visit at the park and remember to re-hide the cache like or better than you found it and practice, "Leave No Trace." While visiting any Georgia State Park, please obey all park rules and remain on the marked trails as you make your way to find the geocaches!
