Cloudland Canyon State Park sits on Lookout Mountain in the NW corner of the state of Georgia. The West Rim trail is home to some of the most gorgeous views of the canyons and waterfalls in the park. This cache is a ridgeline point with great views, along the West Rim Trail.
There is a $5 daily entrance fee to Cloudland Canyon State Park, unless you are a member of the Friends of Georgia State Parks!
Park at the waypoint posted; there is a large parking area at the GET and West Rim trailheads. Follow the West Rim trail. (Not wheelchair accessible). The cache is up on the ridgeline at a narrow point, where the trail makes a 180-degree switchback. It is NOT down the overlook side trail. We encourage you to savor the view from the overlook, but the cache is above the trail. It should be visible from a short distance. It is attached to the tree, please DO NOT try to remove it; just "lift one side of the lid/roof"
Placed with permission of the park manager and park naturalist. Please take care to understand the basic rules of geocaching in order to help keep the game enjoyable for all who participate. Please do not move or vandalize the container. Replace the cache like or better than you found it (exactly where you found it).
Sign the log book and leave it in the cache. If you want to take any of other items in the cache, they are there for trade; be sure to leave something of equal or greater value, but don't leave any kind of food items, or anything that is highly aromatic, which could attract critters/creatures/rodents/bugs!
All trails close at sunset, so this is a daylight-only find.
