The trail head entrance to North Gate Trail is on the East side of Castle Rock Road and between two horse barns marked by a mailbox with address 1550.
If you follow this trail, you will end up at North Gate Road. There are a few water crosses over Pine Creek to get to the end of the trail but they are dry in summer and during droughts.
This cache is located at the end of North Gate Trail - at North Gate Road. This road is the one that takes you to the top of Mount Diablo.
The terrain difficulty is a 3 because stream crossing are required during rainy season. You might want to wear knee high boots. When the creekbed is dry - the terrain rating is more like a 3.0 with some gradual elevation to the trail
Do no go onto the horse property - it is privately owned. Don't feed or pet the horses in pastures.
Be aware of ticks and rattlesnakes which have been found before in this area.
You might see cows and horses in this area, but they are harmless.
Be aware of wasps in the area of the cache. Stick to the North side of the gate..
Also on this trail you will also find my caches:
Castle Rock Pine Creek Bridge GLEMV72V
Castle Rock Pine Creek Dam GC57QJ4
Congratulations to dkata on the FTF.
