These substantial steps and sidewalk end in an overgrown field now, but this was once the site of the Georgetown Hospital. The building was still here into the 90's, but has long since been torn down. There are some spooky pictures of the inside of it in the book 'Weird Kentucky' and some claim it was haunted, but this is a pretty quiet spot now.

The old John Graves Ford Memorial Hospital in 2005, moments before demolition
And now, for the rest of the story... in 1916, John Graves Ford, a grandson of Mrs. John B. Graves, was stricken with appendicitis. He was taken to a hospital in Lexington where he later died after a brief illness. To forestall the possibility of future occurrences, Mrs. Graves jump started funding for a new hospital by donating $35,000 that would serve as a memorial to her grandson. Construction on the new hospital began later that year and was finished by 1917. It was in use until 1984, when the current Georgetown Hospital began operations (sic!).
