The Boudicca Way
“The walking has been good this morning, the light breeze has rippled through my Lorica keeping my cool and the ground is soft and forgiving underfoot. I pause briefly to eat some of my ration, bacon some hard tack biscuits and a short sip of sour wine… delicious. The food supply has improved since the uprising and Venta Icenorum grows quickly with a new forum and pottery kiln. I cannot wait to return to the town and see the progress there, I hear they even have an amphitheatre now! Ave Galba!”
Cache Information
This cache is part of the Saxlingham Nethergate Geocaching Story placed by the Norfolk Trails.
Speculatores were Roman scouts in the rein of Galba in 3-69BC. This walk is the daily watch of Roman Scout Fausto Adrien, he was placed here after the attempted revolt by the Iceni tribe led by Queen Boudicca in AD 61. He patrols the land near to Venta Icenorum the new Roman town, after being originally housed there before the revolt. He patrols this route every day keeping his eyes keen for sights of barbarians or other dangers to the great empire. Follow this walk with him and discover more… Write down the letters at each stop to find the Latin word..
Please replace the cache exactly where it was found and take care around muggles
