Each of the caches is more than a mile from the closest parking point so you will get a little exercise along the way. When you find each the three caches you will be given a clue for the final. The final is in a neighborhood park and is the easiest of the series – it’s simply a reward for completing all three phases of the triathlon. However, you MUST complete all three triathlon phases before logging a smiley on the final. No exceptions. If you plan properly you can do the entire series in a day, but there is no time limit on getting any or all of the caches. Find them at your leisure and enjoy some really nice areas of Deep Creek.
This is the walk/hike phase of the triathlon. You may also choose to bike to this cache if you prefer. This cache is located on the newest section of the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail which is now extended north to the Deep Creek Park. Parking coordinates are provided for the northern end of the bike trail and you will have about 2 miles round trip from there. You may also park at the Deep Creek Park further north on 17.
The cache is a small DCON container just off the trail. Don’t forget to note the clue.
