Geocache Description:

This is my Old Barns I've Played At Series, I'll try to get caches at all of the rinks I've played in but I think some of them already have caches.

This cache is located near a rink that has good and bad memories, and they are related. The good side of the story was that this was a nail biter, overtime, two goal deficit comeback win rink for the SEDMHA tournament my junior year of Pee Wee. I can still remember the pile-up at centre ice we made after our player with one of the worst records on the team made the shot from the blue line to end sudden and send us to the finals. My Dad always describes it as our gold medal. The bad side of that story is, our leading scorer sliced his wrist open in that pile after the game. He didn't even notice that his glove was covered in blood on the inside until we got to the dressing room. He was out for the final and we lost that game in a shoot out when one of the opposing players slide into the net, taking the puck with him. Somehow, the ref called the goal good, that would never happen today. Today this is one of three rinks that are home to the Dartmouth Whalers. Originally their colors were Blue and green, that of the Hartford Whalers, but now are Royal blue and gold, like the Nashville Predators. That's strange but also not surprising since the Whalers became the Carolina Hurricane who have the same colors as the Dartmouth Whalers rivals across the harbour, the Halifax Hawks. Look for other caches in this series at rinks around the province.
