Geocache Description:

This is my Old Barns I've Played At Series, I'll try to get caches at all of the rinks I've played in but I think some of them already have caches.

This cache is located near a rink that I can only remember one story from my past, this is about the dirty side of hockey. We were in the Chebucto tournament at the PeeWee level and were doing quite well in the round robin. Close to the last game of the round robin we were slated to move into the playoffs in a fairly good position and were handily beating our opposing team (I'm not sure who they were). Near the beginning of the third, one of our better centres made a break at centre ice, deeked the defenseman and was about to have a breakaway. The defenseman turned and gave our player a two handed axe chop with the blade of his stick over our players back and after that all I can remember is a big scuffle at centre ice and full penalty boxes on both sides. I've never been a fan of the violence in the game. I've almost become a convert to only watching international hockey and am a big fan of women's hockey because the emphasis is on skill and finesse, rather than physicality and stuff like this. I guess the message I would like to give is, keep the violence off the ice, it's not worth the pain and anger that it leads too. Today this rink is home to the Chebucto Atlantics who's colours resemble the Dallas Stars' green and gold, as is reflected in the text of the cache description. Look for other caches in this series at rinks around the province.
