Geocaching puzzles are a game that uses a computer. Web pages. You need to be comfortable with driving the system.
Geocaching uses Geo-locations on the surface of the planet. Some are more likely than others. Use Corrected Coordinates. Use Waypoints and know how to look them up – if a possible answer leaves you in Africa, or someone’s backyard, it may not be right. Does your answer match the expected Terrain rating?
Look for the Red Herring. The misdirection. If there are a couple of ways of proceeding, the obvious one isn’t always the right one.
