I don't know if Latin is taught in schools these days. Back in the 60's however, a course in Latin was pretty much mandatory. Latin is considered a "dead" language in that it is no longer spoken. However it is the root of all Romantic languages (French, Italian, Spanish, etc.) and is widely used in medicine, science, and law. Scratching under the surface of many English words you will likely find a Latin word from which it is derived.
So question: why did Latin die out? Hmmm ... something to look into!
(Might be difficult to find in deep snow)
