This cache has been archived.

AlbanyVisitorsAssoc: It's time to put this baby to rest. It was another very successful Art & Air Challenge. The largest turnout ever. We look forward to doing it again next year, same time same place.

Geocache Description:

Each year, hot air balloons converge on Albany at the end of the summer as part of the ATI Northwest Art & Air Festival, held at Timber Linn Memorial Park. (SEE RELATED PAGE)

It has become asummer tradition that the Albany Visitors Association sponsors the ALBANY ART & AIR CHALLENGE.  The tradition is alive and well as they present the ALBANY ART & AIR CHALLENGE IV to be held Saturday, August 23, in conjuction with the ATI Northwest Art & Air Festival.

The Challenge begins at 10am at Timber Linn Memorial Park.  A challenge course has been laid out and each caching household will be issued a challenge passport when they check in at the geocaching stage in the park.  The course has been carefully laid out so that you will also have the opportunity to find caches in the area. TO AVOID PARKING ISSUES, PLEASE ENTER THE PARK FROM THE HIGHWAY 20 SIDE.

175 coins have been designed for this event, 25 more than the previous three years, and each passport (one per household) will guarantee a coin.

Completed passports can be brought to Albany Pizza King, 231 Lyons Street SE (N44 38.161 W123 06.270) between 3:00 and 6:00pm the day of the event.  PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS A ONE-DAY EVENT.

Again this year, the Albany Visitors Association has donated the door prize which will be given away in a drawing to be held at 6:00pm at Albany Pizza King. All those completing the challenge will be eligible and you don't have to be present to win. This year's door prize is a bit different than last year's. If your name is drawn and you're not present, you will have to pick it up at the Albany Visitors Association office at your convenience.  Last year's winner was amygems from Portland.

Some of the businesses in Albany have also donated prizes to be given away at the "IT'S A WRAP 2" event (GC58XKJ) following the Challenge. You'll want to be sure and hang around for that. Also, don't forget the meet & greet, "Geo-Picnic in the Park" (GC5826W) the night before.

Here's this year's coin:
