The Alabama Hills contain many mysteries.
This particular formation of rocks has always been an eye catcher for anyone driving along the Whitney Portal Road. The face may change depending on who may feel the "monster" needs a face lift. One thing for certain--it always has a face! Stop and stretch and climb around a spell. Take note of the interesting rock formations within the monster. Are these man made or something formed over thousands of years of rocks moving and shifting? The terrain is pretty easy and the cache can be located either the "hard" way or the "easy" way. Make note there is also a Geodetic Survey Benchmark among the rocks. You are looking for a camo'ed bottle. Bring your own writing instrument to sign the log.
