BQDC # 50, Tree of Harvest Traditional Cache

The barn quilt can be viewed just south of GZ but it is a drive-by where you will probably need to peak under the overhang of a large tree to really see the quilt.  Please do not search for the cache after dark.  No need to go further than about 20’-30’ off the road.

The quilt is located on the Poehler homestead farm. The Poehlers were one of the large orchard owners and processors of cherries in Door Co.  The quilt is a 2014 addition to the 45 placed in Door County between 2010-2012 as a joint project of the UW-Extension, 4-H members and leaders, FFA members and alumni, local quilt guild members and other volunteers.

The goals of the Door County Barn Quilt Project are:

• Promote the agricultural heritage of Door Co.

• Provide education about the art and history of quilting

• Highlight the architecture and historical significance of barns throughout Door Co.

• Encourage economic development by promoting rural tourism

• Build an adult-youth partnership through the implementation of the project
