Chuck Rayner was born on August 11th 1920 in Sutherland, long before it was absorbed by Saskatoon. He won the Memorial Cup in 1940 then he played for 9 seasons in the NHL with the New York Americans/Rangers. During that he served with the Canadian Navy as well as being a star goalie with their navy team. After WWII he signed with the Rangers and despite being on a losing team as the NYR were struggling then, he won the Hart Trophy 1950,
He was inducted into the HHOF in 1973 and passed away on October 5th 2002.
