Eddie Shore was born in fort Qu'Appelle on November 25th 1902. He played junior hockey with the Melville Millionaires and began his NHL career in 1926 with the Boston Bruins. A tough defenceman, Shore set the standard for which future defneceman were measured by. He won 2 Stanley cups, the first of which was also the first for the Boston Bruins, and also added 4 Hart trophies as the leagues most valuable player. During his NHL career he played in 550 games scoring 105 goals, 179 assists for 284 points while sitting for 1,047 penalty minutes.

Shore also made a name for himself as a hockey owner when he purchased the Springfield Indians, when they went bankrupt, for $42,000. A player, coach and owner, Shore was known as a tyrant towards his players, often withholding pay for no reason and forcing his players to clean the arena after games.
