One hundred years ago a fire lookout site was established on Little Chinquapin Mountain in Jackson County. At an elevation of 5681' it would have commanded quite a view to the south and east. Of course, now the trees have grown up obscuring the view. Also, the brush has overtaken the original lookout site, which was only used for about six years, making it inaccessible to all but the most determined bushwacker.
We placed the cache in a location that should be easily accessible once you have made the ascent to the summit which is about 500' from the parking coordinates. The difficulty level is for the road and terrain to the site. You will want a high clearance 4x4, preferably with low range because the final stretch is steep and rough.
We have included a waypoint to get you on the correct road as well as the coordinates for the location where we parked.
