Oxbow Park is a great place to visit year round. The landscape is beautiful and you're always sure to spot many forms of wildlife, from interesting bugs to impressive deer. Your trek to this cache will take you to one of the far reaches of the park - the back forty, if you will
.
To best access this cache, hike on the North Meadow Trail until you're directly south of the cache...then head north, off the trail
. There are trail maps posted at each river bridge and most trail junctions. Once you leave the trail, there is only a little bush-whacking, even in the middle of summer. After thirty seconds of undergrowth, the woods opens up. The canopy is high and it's a nice hike through the untamed woods.
This area had been on my 'to-explore' list for a long time. I know that it will be worth while to hike through here in all four of the seasons. Spring brings wildflowers and all the signs of a new year's life. Summer brings the dark forest and green roof above. Fall has beautiful colors and the crunch of fallen leaves. Winter's serenity and crispness on a sunny day in the deep snow is maybe the best.
Enjoy the hike, the views, the plentiful swag and another smiley
