If you have already found Phew! then it is time to move on up to Phew! 2. Not up very far though, because this point is only slightly higher than Phew!, at 400 metres. This is almost the highest point on the logging track that sidles around Goat Rock (the highest point is just a few metres away), joining the Tunnel Gulley track to the Rimutaka Rail Trail. The tracks in the area provide several options for different loop walks/cycle rides in hilly, but not challenging, 4WD tracks amongst second generation pine plantation. There are still a phew glimpses in various places through the trees of the Kaitoke Valley and the Tararuas.
As with Phew!, if you've got this far you've had to do a bit of uphill work to get here and have done some ups and downs along the way as well. The whole track is in good condition though and can be done in sneakers even in wet weather, if you so desire.
And if you haven't yet found Phew!, then I expect you'll be finding it soon after this
.
When replacing, please make sure you reposition/cover the cache carefully to avoid it being spotted by muggles. The track is used quite a bit at weekends and GZ is close to the track.
