There are a number of tree-climbs around the Cambridge area, but most of them either require specialist climbing equipment or are unrealistic for those of modest ability. Hopefully this one is a good challenge that can be tackled by most people. I know it can be done by an eleven year old girl and a fifty year old man
The cache is hidden in a camouflage bag placed half way up the middle of a mature chestnut tree. The branches all look good and strong, but watch out for bark that can give way close to ground level. It ought to be possible to complete the challenge without damaging the tree.
You may be able to spot the cache from the ground if you look carefully, but it should also become clearly visible once you start the ascent. I'm guessing it may become too visible in the winter; I may have to disable it over the winter months if that's the case.
It should go without saying, but please don't go for this if you have doubts about your ability and if you are not wearing suitable clothing and footwear. The tree is likely to mark clothing and/or shoes.
You don't have to sign the log in situ. The bag can be unclipped and returned to the ground if you'd prefer to make the climb twice and sign the log at ground level.
Please let me know if you feel the difficulty and terrain levels are not quite right
Good luck and have fun!
Congratulations to TUXZEL on the FTF!
